Mixed Roots Film & Literary Festival
View works addressing the mixed racial and cultural experience thru film, writing, live performances and workshops. Award-winning artist, filmmaker and slam poet Kip Fulbeck will receive the inaugural Loving Prize in honor of his inspirational dedication to celebrating and illuminating the mixed racial and cultural experience. Honoree writer and musician James McBride will receive the prize in absentia. Immediately following the Loving Prize Presentation is an incredible line-up of comedy, performance, and spoken-word artistry featuring performers Joe Hernandez-Kolski and Joshua RKB Silverstein; Maya Lilly; Esther Friedman; Warren Hutcherson; and Kaypri.

The Pasadena Chalk Festival
This is the world’s largest street painting festival, drawing almost 600 regional artists who’ll use 25,000 sticks of pastel chalk to create spectacular murals on pavement the size of two city blocks! Fantastic works of art from every genre from classical to contemporary to socially relevant, will be created and shown over the course of the weekend.

Shakespeare by the Sea presents “A Midsummer Night's Dream” & “Anthony & Cleopatra”
June 12- August 9, 2008 (various locales)
This uniquely fantastic Shakespearian experience tours different parks with performances of “A Midsummer Night's Dream” opening June 12th, and “Anthony & Cleopatra” opening June 19. Both classics will run in repertory for five weeks at San Pedro’s Point Fermin Park every Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 8pm until July 12th. Then from July 15th–August 9th, the company tours Rancho Palos Verdes, Irvine, Lomita, South Pasadena, Manhattan Beach, Glendale, Torrance, Redondo Beach, Lawndale, Carson, Hermosa Beach, Laguna Niguel & Newport Beach. Grand finale performances will return to Point Fermin Park on Friday and Saturday, August 8 and 9 at 8pm.
