Manhattanite Laala Matias has a BFA in Film & Television from NYU's
Tisch School of the Arts, where she received the Warner Bros. Post
Production Award for the completion of her thesis film, Low-Life
Tendencies. She has worked with Saturday Night Live's film unit and
HBO's documentary division. Two of her short films screened at the
Kennedy Center/Smithsonian Institution and in various cities. After
graduation, she wet her feet working on Law & Order: SVU, Hype
Williams' music videos and Spike Lee's commercials. Laala was a
ABC/Disney Television Writing Fellow. She recently wrote and produced
the one-act play Great Expectations for the NYU New Writers Showcase
at the Friars of Beverly Hills and wrote an overnight newspaper for
the hit reality show Big Brother 8 on CBS. In between scripts, Laala
produces the LAaLALand List of local cultural events from her
multi-colored apartment in the Valley – the blog helps her adapt to
how it's always sunny in Southern California.
