The 11th Annual Mission West Spring Street Arts Festival

“Unnatural Selection” Exhibit
Visit phenomenal thespian CCH Pounder’s Pounder Kone Artspace in the glorious Atwater Village for this very exploratory exhibit opening. It focuses on the traders who braved the harsh landscapes which connect the East to the West seeking the dreams they believed silk could offer. Though the secret of creating silk was the intellectual property of only a few, many others pinned their hopes upon this sensuous fabric. This show is an exploration of such expectations and ideals, and imagines the extent we are willing to go to in order to achieve them.

Artwater Festival!
One of my favorite neighborhoods in LA, Atwater Village, is presenting their annual celebration of music and arts' festival. It’s an interactive music and arts festival featuring local artisans, chalk artists, live musicians and dancers. Taste all natural Reeds Inc. ginger and rootbeers & function drinks. Of age drinkers can savor New Belgium Beer and wine from 55 Degrees. There’s also tasty barbeque while patrons design personal succulent garden, rock paint and have your picture taking in some funky fun outfits with your friends! Raffle prizes include a Santa Ynez Inn mid-week stay with two complementary massages, as Miropoulsky painting valued at $1,500, Chocolate Sun gift certificate, and alot more! Comedian Rodney Perry hosts this massive event includes screenings of former Vice President and presidential candidate Al Gore’s critically acclaimed environmental documentary “An Inconvenient Truth” and Spike Lee’s phenomenal Katrina Hurricane documentary, “When the Levies Broke” in Baldwin Hills Park. There will be food, fun, comedy, gospel and jazz music.
Also, California Greenworks, along with ARC International and 1-800-GOT-JUNK, provide a free electronic waste (e-waste) pavilion to collect consumer electronic equipment near the end of their “useful life.” Bring items like computer monitors, televisions, personal computers, printers, copiers, scanners, toner cartridges, fax machines, PDAs, power supplies, main frame units, networking equipment, mother board systems, VCR and DVD players, home entertainment systems and landline and cellular phones to help to reduce e-waste in our community and divert e-waste from our landfills. Splash! A Celebration of Mermaids and the Sea Festival

5th Annual Fracas! Improv Festival
Sponsored by The Onion, this is the nation's largest purely intercollegiate improv festival attended by 18 college troupes from across the country and the United Kingdom. 5th Annual Bent Fest - Festival of Circuit Bending
